WATCH : Overexcited Kohli sent back to the hut without batting due to Boland’s first ball drama

Rohit Sharma didn’t hesitate to follow the customary approach of batting first in pink-ball Tests in Australia during the toss.

However, his decision backfired when opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was outfoxed by Mitchell Starc on the opening day. Shubman Gill, who came in next, played some delightful drives, but the real drama unfolded when Scott Boland replaced Pat Cummins.

In the eighth over, Boland bowled a length delivery around the fourth stump line from over the wicket. KL Rahul, with a half-hearted shot, edged the ball faintly to the keeper.

The on-field umpire raised his finger, signaling an out, but the Aussie celebrations were cut short when the TV umpire revealed that Boland had overstepped on his very first delivery. The error saved Rahul, but the drama didn’t stop there.

As the focus shifted to India’s dressing room, Virat Kohli was seen rushing towards the field to replace Rahul, only for the no-ball confusion to send him back. The whirlwind of events in a single delivery quickly captured the attention of the Twitterverse.
