WATCH : Pakistan’s fielding tradition goes haywire with a series of repeated overthrows

Mir Hamza’s early dismissal of Zakir Hasan disrupted Bangladesh’s overnight momentum, intensifying the pressure on the opposition.

Khurram Shehzad then dismissed Shadman Islam, leaving Bangladesh at 85/2 after 21 overs, still needing 100 more runs. However, just before lunch, another fielding mishap added to the hosts’ concerns.

On the final delivery of the 33rd over, Salman Agha bowled a short delivery to Bangladesh’s captain. Shanto flicked the ball towards square leg, and he and his partner Mushfiur completed a single.

The square-leg fielder failed to stop the ball, which was then retrieved by the deep square-leg fielder. However, the throw to the bowler’s end missed its target and was relayed to mid-wicket.

Shan Masood’s subsequent throw was also wayward, allowing the Bangladeshi batsmen to steal an extra run. This series of fielding errors drew widespread criticism on social media, with many expressing frustration over Pakistan’s fielding performance.
