WATCH : Phillips flies into fit of rage after Gurbaz sells him down the river

Colombo Strikers faced off against the Kandy Falcons in a crucial Eliminator at R Premadasa Stadium, with Colombo batting first after losing the toss.

Muhammad Waseem opened with Rahmanullah Gurbaz but was dismissed early in the third over, continuing Colombo’s trend of shaky starts. Glenn Phillips, in fine form, came in next, hoping to stabilize the innings alongside the fiery Afghan.

However, things quickly took a turn for the worse. Facing Angelo Mathews, Phillips gently pushed a length delivery towards cover and called for a single.

Gurbaz responded quickly, and Phillips sprinted to the other end. To his dismay, Gurbaz halted after a couple of steps, noticing Dasun Shanaka charging in to collect the ball.

Despite Phillips being more than halfway down the track, Gurbaz decided against the run. As Phillips continued his momentum, Gurbaz turned back, and Dinesh Chandimal swiftly removed the bails, ending Phillips’ stay at the crease.

Phillips was visibly furious, walking off with his chest puffed out, muttering curses under his breath. His frustration was evident as he punched his bat, slammed it on the ground, and threw it up in disgust. The dramatic turn of events quickly became a hot topic on social media, with Twitterati sharing their reactions to the incident.
