WATCH : Prabhudessai’s sensational throw to ran out Hetmyer

In the IPL 2023 encounter between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday, RCB’s Mohammed Siraj got them off to a solid start by dismissing Jos Buttler for a duck in their pursuit of a massive 190-run target.

However, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Devdutt Padikkal led RR’s recovery by adding 98 runs for the second wicket, before Padikkal departed for 52 off 34 balls against David Willey. Yashasvi contributed 47 off 37 deliveries, while Sanju Samson scored 22 off 15 balls before being dismissed in quick succession.

RCB set a challenging total of 189/9 in 20 overs after being decimated by Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell, who both scored blistering half-centuries. This followed a shaky start by Trent Boult, who reduced RCB to 12/2 in 2.1 overs, which included the prized wicket of Virat Kohli for a duck.

However, Maxwell and Du Plessis didn’t waste any time and added 127 runs for the third wicket in just 67 deliveries, undeterred by the early setbacks. Yashasvi ended Du Plessis’ innings of 62 off 39 balls with a direct hit, and R Ashwin removed Maxwell for 77 off 44 balls. Despite the tremendous fightback by RR in the afternoon, RCB emerged victorious.

Hetmyer is run out by a direct hit from Prabhudessai in a crucial moment of the game. Willey bowls a length ball outside off, and Hetmyer hits it towards extra cover, attempting to steal a single. However, Prabhudessai, positioned at the fielding spot, stops the ball and aims at the one stump he has, hitting it perfectly. This marks the end of Hetmyer’s scratchy innings.
