WATCH : Rachin Ravindra’s celebrations for Sybrand Engelbrecht were short-lived

New Zealand secured a comfortable victory in Hyderabad against the Netherlands, thanks to a dominant bowling performance, after setting an imposing target of 323. The Kiwi spinners played a pivotal role in their triumph, with Mitchell Santner taking five wickets and Rachin Ravindra contributing with one.

However, Ravindra came close to adding another wicket to his tally with a magnificent piece of bowling late in the game, only to have it ruled as a no-ball due to an unusual error by Tom Latham.

In this particular instance, the left-arm spinner was facing Sybrand Engelbrecht, who aggressively advanced down the track in an attempt to boost the scoring rate, despite the seemingly insurmountable task at hand.

However, Engelbrecht’s intentions became apparent a bit too early, allowing Ravindra to anticipate his movement and respond by delivering a quick delivery well wide of the stumps. Engelbrecht found himself completely outwitted by the line of the delivery and was left stranded, unable to make contact with the ball even as he stretched to reach it. Tom Latham, wearing the wicket-keeping gloves, efficiently executed a routine stumping, prompting the batter to make his way towards the dugout.

However, just as Engelbrecht was about to cross the boundary ropes, the umpires signaled for him to halt, sensing something amiss. Subsequently, replays were reviewed, leading the third umpire to conclude that Latham had collected the ball in front of the stumps, contravening the rules.
