India’s all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja executed a stunning MS Dhoni-style run-out during the second Test against New Zealand.
Demonstrating quick thinking, Jadeja managed to run out New Zealand batter William O’Rourke despite a wayward throw from the fielder.
On the third day of the match at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune, October 26, India made a powerful comeback, claiming five wickets in New Zealand’s second innings before they were bowled out for 255 runs.
The memorable run-out occurred in the 70th over of New Zealand’s innings. O’Rourke hesitated while attempting a second run, allowing Jadeja to flick Washington Sundar’s throw onto the stumps just in time to secure the wicket.
Jadeja also provided an early breakthrough by dismissing Tom Blundell, who scored 41 runs off 83 balls—his first wicket in this match.
He later claimed the wickets of Mitchell Santner and Ajaz Patel, while Ravichandran Ashwin took the wicket of Tim Southee in the morning session.
