On Friday, March 10th, during Day 2 of the Ahmedabad Test against Australia, Ravindra Jadeja, the all-rounder for Team India, entertained himself by playing the role of an umpire.
After resuming their innings at 255/4, Australia maintained their dominance with the bat. Usman Khawaja, who had remained unbeaten on 104 overnight, and Cameron Green, who was not out on 49*, were unbeaten in the first session.
Australia went to lunch at 347/4. In the second session, Green scored his century before being dismissed. While India struggled to make a breakthrough on Day 2 of the Ahmedabad Test, Jadeja was observed attempting to lift the team’s morale.
Following an appeal by Indian wicketkeeper KS Bharat, the nearby fielding all-rounder signaled for a third umpire review in a playful manner. He went further and raised his finger, indicating a soft signal of ‘out.’
At the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, earlier in the match, Australia won the toss and chose to bat first. Last week, the Steve Smith-led Australian team secured a place in the final of the World Test Championship with a nine-wicket victory over India in Indore.
India, on the other hand, still needs a win to secure a direct path to the tournament final. In the event that the series concludes at 2-1, India will need New Zealand to avoid a 0-2 clean sweep defeat against Sri Lanka.
