WATCH : Richardson gets injured on dead ball amidst unique law revolving enclosed stadiums

Winning the toss and opting to field first, the Gades took advantage of the moisture on the pitch to trouble the opposition. The visitors quickly lost four wickets within the first half of their innings, leaving Cooper Connolly to anchor the innings and guide the Scorchers to a respectable total.

Despite facing challenges from the Gades, Connolly benefitted from some luck, including an opportunity missed by Richardson to dismiss him.

In the tenth over, Kane bowled a fuller delivery outside off, which Connolly attempted to loft down the ground. However, he mistimed the shot, causing the ball to skew off the bat and soar high into the enclosed dome, striking the inner roof.

As the ball descended, Kane attempted a catch but injured his finger in the process. The physio was called in to assess him. According to the rules, if a catch had been taken despite the ball hitting the roof, it would still be considered out.

However, under the updated laws, such a delivery is now deemed a dead ball—replacing the previous rule where such instances were awarded six runs.
