On Wednesday, Rishabh Pant, Team India’s celebrated wicketkeeper-batsman, shared a video documenting his recovery journey after suffering several injuries in a car accident last December. The footage, which he uploaded to his official Instagram account, shows Pant gingerly taking strides in a swimming pool while using a crutch for support.
Although Pant has kept his fans informed about his recuperation through regular social media updates, this is the first occasion when he has posted a video of himself walking after the accident.
Several public figures, including Ravi Shastri and Suryakumar Yadav, extended their well-wishes to Rishabh Pant for his ongoing recovery. Shastri, the former coach of the Indian cricket team, wrote, “Keep it going, Panty.”
Prior to his car accident on December 30th of last year, Rishabh Pant had been a crucial player for the Indian team in all formats of the game. While travelling to his hometown, his car collided with a road divider on the Delhi-Dehradun highway, resulting in multiple injuries. Initially, he was treated at a local hospital, but he was subsequently transferred to a private hospital in Dehradun.
Earlier this year in January, Rishabh Pant was airlifted to Mumbai and received further medical attention at the Kokilaben Dhirubai Ambani Hospital. The medical professionals treating Pant have not yet provided a specific timeline for his return to training, but it has been previously reported that both the BCCI and selectors anticipate he may be sidelined for a minimum of six months.
Consequently, the wicketkeeper-batsman is expected to miss out on a significant portion of the cricketing events in 2023, including the upcoming ODI World Cup. In Pant’s absence, KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, and KS Bharat have assumed the responsibilities of India’s primary wicketkeepers across the ODI, T20I, and Test formats, respectively.
