WATCH : Rohit Sharma expresses his frustration after Piyush Chawla’s terrible fielding mistake

On Tuesday, Mumbai Indians struggled with their death bowling once again, allowing Gujarat Titans’ middle-order to launch a counter-attack and score 96 runs in the last six overs. Earlier, spinners Piyush Chawla and Kumar Kartikeya had choked the run-scoring in the middle overs.

Abhinav Manohar set the tone with his quickfire 42 off 21 balls, followed by David Miller’s explosive 46 off 22. The final flourish came from Rahul Tewatia, who smashed a five-ball 20 to propel GT to a total of 207 for six, their second 200-plus score in the IPL.

Rohit Sharma was visibly frustrated by Gujarat’s power-hitting prowess in the latter stages of the game, but his anger was compounded by a specific incident during their innings. In the 17th over, Abhinav Manohar kickstarted his quickfire innings with a well-placed shot towards short third man off a yorker from pace bowler Riley Meredith.

Piyush Chawla was positioned at that spot, and it should have been an easy stop for him. However, Chawla momentarily lost focus and let the ball slip between his legs, allowing it to race to the boundary. This error left Sharma incensed with his teammate.

As the boundary relay was shown, it captured the moment when Rohit Sharma’s frustration was displayed in a manic outburst directed at Chawla’s horrific fielding error. The footage showed Rohit visibly agitated while Chawla was immensely disappointed at his own efforts. Meanwhile, the commentator couldn’t help but laugh at the manner in which the error was made.
