WATCH : Rohit Sharma forgets passport in Colombo hotel, delays team’s departure

In a past episode of the YouTube series Breakfast with Champions, former India captain Virat Kohli shared an amusing anecdote about the current skipper Rohit Sharma. He mentioned how Rohit had a tendency to forget things and had left valuable items behind at airports and other public places.

In a light-hearted manner, Kohli had remarked, “I haven’t seen anyone forget things like Rohit Sharma does. He even forgets his iPad and passport.”

Recently, another incident occurred that seemed to validate Kohli’s playful observation. Just before the Indian cricket team was about to board the bus at their hotel in Colombo to head to the airport for their flight back to India, Rohit Sharma accidentally left his passport behind.

A video shared on X (formerly Twitter) captured the moment inside the bus, with players like Jasprit Bumrah and vice-captain Hardik Pandya seated behind Rohit. KL Rahul, the wicket-keeper batter, was standing behind Sharma.

Fortunately, a quick-thinking member of the hotel staff managed to reach the bus in time to return Rohit Sharma’s passport. The video garnered various comments from users, some of whom humorously speculated on the reasons behind Sharma’s forgetfulness.

One user quipped, “Maybe he’s so focused on winning the World Cup now that he forgot about his passport. No worries, captain!” Another user suggested a different perspective, saying, “Let’s consider that Rohit’s forgetfulness might just be his secret to staying cool and focused on the field. Whatever works for him!”

Following their successful campaign in the Asia Cup, most of the team members arrived in Mumbai during the early hours of Monday.
