WATCH : Rohit Sharma plants the stump straight to the ground

On March 9, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Indian captain Rohit Sharma was spotted quickly planting the stump into the ground.

This occurred while the players were celebrating and embracing each other and their families. As he passed by, Rohit, holding the stump, appeared to attempt to strike it on the ground, but it ended up sticking there instead.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma has put an end to all retirement speculation, clearly stating that he has no intention of retiring from ODI cricket.

After guiding India to a historic Champions Trophy 2025 victory over New Zealand at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, March 9, he said, “I want to make it clear that I am not leaving, I am not retiring from this format.”

Rohit’s retirement had been a topic of discussion throughout the tournament, especially after his decision to step away from T20Is following India’s World Cup triumph in June 2024.

Many had speculated that he might retire from ODIs as well, given his age and the demands of his schedule. However, the 37-year-old captain put those rumors to rest by confirming his desire to continue playing in the 50-over format.
