WATCH : Sai Sudharsan turns Olympian swimmer to take brilliant dipping catch

After setting an ambitious target of 297 on a challenging pitch at Boland Park, India found themselves struggling in the initial stages of the chase. This was primarily due to the exceptional performance of Proteas opener Tony de Zorzi, who confidently scored 81 runs.

However, when de Zorzi departed, the hosts required just over six runs per over with 20 overs remaining, a target well within reach, especially with the formidable duo of David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen at the crease. As the Indian team sought a breakthrough, Sai Sudharsan delivered a remarkable catch, undoubtedly the highlight of the tour.

Positioned at mid-off, Sudharsan seized the opportunity when Avesh Khan bowled a delivery that bounced unexpectedly off the pitch during the 33rd over. Klaasen, on strike, attempted a cautious shot, but the ball behaved unpredictably, lifting higher off the surface than anticipated.

Despite the apparent lack of pace in Klaasen’s shot, Sudharsan swiftly sprinted in from his position and executed a spectacular full-length dive. With his impeccable positioning and agility, reminiscent of a professional swimmer’s dive, the 22-year-old managed to scoop the ball off the ground, securing a sensational catch.

Celebrating immediately, Sudharsan’s catch was confirmed as fair by the umpires through replays. This crucial wicket led to a significant collapse in the African team’s batting lineup, and Sudharsan received widespread acclaim from fans on Twitter, praising the young talent from Tamil Nadu who had earlier showcased his batting prowess with half-centuries in his first two ODIs.
