WATCH : Samson succumbs trying to emulate Kohli’s iconic MCG wristy heave

With Harshit Rana’s impressive early wickets, India A posted 290 runs in their first innings on the second day. In response, India D faced early setbacks, including the loss of captain Shreyas Iyer.

Although a quick 38-run partnership followed, Yash Dubey’s dismissal paved the way for Sanju Samson’s entry in the Duleep Trophy.

Samson, aiming to make an impact, struggled and lost his wicket while trying to replicate Virat Kohli’s iconic stroke from the 2022 T20 World Cup against Pakistan. Despite a promising four off his second ball, Samson could not maintain his form.

He fell to a delivery with extra bounce on the first ball of the 18th over. Attempting a cross-batted shot to counter the bounce, Samson top-edged the ball, which was easily caught by Prasidh Krishna at mid-on, leaving Samson visibly disappointed.

Samson’s attempt to mirror Kohli’s memorable six from the 18.5th over against Pakistan stirred considerable buzz on Twitter.
