The rise and increasing prevalence of franchise leagues worldwide have given rise to a dedicated fan base for globetrotting cricketers who excel in both small and major tournaments. While this concept was initially embraced by Caribbean players, partly due to their disagreements with the poorly managed West Indies Cricket Board, numerous players from countries like Pakistan and England have also embraced this trend in recent years.
Among the standout Asian players in T20 cricket of late, Azam Khan has emerged as one of the most prominent figures. In a recent Twitter video, the 25-year-old showcased precisely why he has earned this recognition.
Under contract with the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the Caribbean Premier League 2023, Khan participated in a power-hitting session alongside teammates Shimron Hetmyer and Odean Smith. The wicket-keeper batter seized an opportunity when a delivery landed slightly wide of off, and with a graceful swing, he knelt down to launch it towards the cow corner.
Khan maintained his pose, watching the ball soar before erupting in celebration as the Kookaburra cleared the stadium’s roof. The camera swiftly captured Smith, who sported a sheepish smile, while Hetmyer was visibly astonished by the astonishing power and timing displayed by Khan.

Hetmyer says it's the biggest six he has seen in his life 🔥🔥 #CPL2023 pic.twitter.com/u7MjnpMWl9
The most remarkable moment occurred when Hetmyer, despite sharing the field with cricket giants like Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, and Andre Russell, admitted that it was the most massive six he had ever witnessed. Despite Khan’s somewhat subdued CPL season, where he managed just 73 runs in seven appearances, his ability to strike the ball with unmatched power remains undeniably impressive.
