Shams Mulani’s heroic effort on the opening day didn’t carry over into the morning session of the second day in the clash between India A and India D in the second round.
Harshit Rana made an early impact by dismissing both Mulani and Aqib Khan with consecutive deliveries, limiting the opposition to just a few runs and securing a 290-run total for their first innings.
In response, the India D bowlers continued to display their skill, with Khaleel Ahmed making a significant mark in his initial spell. Khaleel struck twice, with his second wicket shattering Shreyas Iyer’s composure.
Khaleel, exploiting the angle of his left-arm deliveries, caught Atharva Taide off guard on just the third ball of the innings. Shreyas Iyer, making a rare appearance with a pair of cool shades, faced his first six deliveries with a mix of defensive strokes and strategic leaves.
He eventually tried to push hard at a fuller delivery to open his account, but ended up with a leading edge. The ball was caught by the mid-on fielder, who swiftly moved to his left to secure the catch, dismissing the skipper.

The Mumbaikar’s visible disappointment was mirrored by the online community, which found it amusing that his stylish entrance, complete with shades, culminated in a quick seven-ball duck.
