Star Indian cricketers Smriti Mandhana and Ishan Kishan shared the spotlight as they appeared together in the latest episode of the popular Indian TV quiz show, Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), aired on Monday, December 25.
Mandhana, the vice-captain of the Indian Women’s cricket team, joined forces with Kishan, a regular member of the national men’s cricket squad across various formats, to kick-start the grand finale week of KBC on the festive occasion of Christmas.
The duo showcased their quiz skills admirably and managed to secure ₹12.5 lakh as prize money. However, their quest concluded at question number 13, which had a prize of ₹25 lakh, as they didn’t possess the answer and had exhausted all three available lifelines.
Their penultimate successful question, which earned them ₹12,50,000, revolved around cricket. The query asked: “Which Indian cricketer made his Test debut in the same match in which Sachin Tendulkar scored his first international century?” The options presented were: Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, Sourav Ganguly, and Javagal Srinath.
Initially seeking assistance through the “call a friend” lifeline, their friend suggested the possibility of Javagal Srinath being the answer.

However, remaining uncertain, Mandhana and Kishan opted to use their final lifeline, granting them another opportunity if their answer was incorrect. They initially selected Srinath, which turned out to be wrong. On their second attempt, they correctly identified the answer as Anil Kumble.
