India’s struggles with the bat persisted on Day 3 of the third Test at the Gabba, as they were reduced to 6/2 within the first 13 balls of their innings in response to Australia’s imposing total of 445. Mitchell Starc was the chief destroyer with the new ball, continuing his strong form from the Adelaide pink ball Test.
He claimed two wickets in his first two overs, derailing India’s chase before it could even begin. Notably, Starc dismissed young Yashasvi Jaiswal for the third time in the series, with all three dismissals occurring in the very first over.
Jaiswal had initially provided a spark for India, driving a full delivery outside off through the gap between slips and gully for a boundary. However, Starc, ever the experienced campaigner, struck back with a delivery that angled in towards middle stump, showing just a hint of movement.
Jaiswal, looking to play the ball with a similar intent, mistimed his shot and ended up chipping it straight to Mitchell Marsh at forward square leg in what turned out to be a simple dismissal.

Starc’s delight was evident, especially considering Jaiswal’s reputation for accumulating big scores. On social media, fans quickly noted the growing rivalry between the two emerging talents from different generations.
