After an exhilarating Edgbaston Test just a week ago, fans around the world eagerly awaited the second Ashes Test of the five-match series, which commenced at Lord’s on June 28. The stage was set for a thrilling display of swing bowling by two of today’s cricketing greats, Jimmy Anderson and Stuart Broad.
However, the events that unfolded after the opening over were unexpected. Those familiar with the Just Stop Oil protest in London may not have been surprised.
Following the completion of the first over, two protesters rushed onto the field, carrying containers of orange powder. The security personnel swiftly intervened, preventing them from reaching the pitch.
Jonny Bairstow also lent a helping hand, assisting in apprehending one of the protesters and escorting them off the field. Bairstow then made his way to the dressing room to change his attire and gloves, as he had come into contact with the orange dust.

The Lord’s crowd rose to their feet, applauding his efforts and showing their appreciation for his swift actions, which prevented any further delay. Netizens also joined in, praising Bairstow for his contribution.
