WATCH : Suryakumar gets injured while taking the catch of Axar Patel

Despite half of their team being dismissed, Delhi Capitals seemed to be scoring slowly until Axar Patel started playing aggressively and boosted the innings. While David Warner was anchoring the innings from the other end, Axar scored an impressive 54 runs to help the team reach a total of 172.

However, Suryakumar Yadav missed an opportunity in the 17th over to stop Axar’s momentum, dropping a catch that also resulted in him injuring himself and conceding six runs. Axar went on to complete his fifty and hit some more impressive shots.

The impact of the incident lingered, causing Suryakumar to feel guilty during the second innings. He watched footage of the dropped catch in the dugout and was frustrated for failing to meet his own fielding standards. Twitter users also sympathized with the Indian cricketer and expressed their emotions on social media.

DC’s prospects were diminished as they lost five wickets in the final ten deliveries of their innings, which could have cost them 10-20 runs. This development may prove critical since DC was dismissed within the allotted overs. While Shaw played some decent shots, he was dismissed easily, whereas Pandey took chances and scored a few boundaries before departing.

Warner, in excellent form, kept the scoreboard ticking, but DC lost three wickets in quick succession, thanks to Chawla’s outstanding bowling. Axar’s fluent and impressive fifty proved to be a turning point for the hosts.

Although Warner was unable to accelerate the pace as he desired, Behrendorff’s four-wicket haul in the 19th over shifted the momentum once again. The pitch has some variations in pace, but the shorter boundaries balance it out.
