This unorthodox batsman is a consistent presence in India’s white-ball teams and is currently competing in the 2023 World Cup. However, just before the match against Sri Lanka at Wankhede, Suryakumar delighted fans by unveiling a never-before-seen persona. The cricketer transformed himself into a cameraman and engaged with fans along Marine Drive in Mumbai.
The official social media accounts of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a video featuring Suryakumar Yadav in his cameraman guise. In the lead-up to the Mumbai match, the Indian Cricket Team was accommodated in a hotel near Marine Drive. As a local lad, Suryakumar Yadav seized the opportunity to connect with fans. In the video, he remarked, “We’re on a mission to explore what makes Mumbai special. The World Cup fever is in full swing, and we’ll be having a Q&A session with fans about it.”
Suryakumar Yadav took extra precautions to remain incognito. He concealed his tattoos with a long-sleeved shirt, obscured his face with a mask, wore a cap, and donned sunglasses to ensure he went unrecognized. He even walked past Ravindra Jadeja’s room, but the all-rounder failed to recognize his teammate. When Suryakumar eventually revealed his true identity, Jadeja shared a hearty laugh over the clever ruse.
In his role as a cameraman, Suryakumar interacted with fans who had no inkling of his true identity. In a comical moment, one fan even offered a critique of Suryakumar’s camerawork and provided some advice for improvement. It must have been a considerable challenge for Suryakumar to maintain a straight face beneath the concealment of his mask.
Later in the video, Suryakumar engaged with a female admirer who expressed her fondness, stating, “It’s a sheer delight to watch Suryakumar Yadav in action. He’s known as ‘Mr. 360’ for a reason. I can’t wait to see him play at Wankhede.” Suryakumar then decided to surprise the young lady by unveiling his true self.
