The Asia Cup 2025 officially began with a grand captains’ meet held on Tuesday, September 9. All eight team captains gathered in the presence of Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who inaugurated the tournament. The prestigious trophy was unveiled at the event, followed by a joint press conference where the skippers shared their thoughts on the competition ahead.
While the gathering symbolized unity and anticipation for the tournament, it also sparked headlines for an incident involving India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav and Pakistan’s skipper Salman Ali Agha. The two cricketers appeared to avoid each other during the customary exchange of greetings, leaving fans and media buzzing with speculation.
As the event concluded, all captains rose from their seats to shake hands. Suryakumar, however, walked past Salman Agha without offering a handshake or greeting. Similarly, the Pakistan captain did not make any attempt to initiate contact. Their mutual indifference stood out in contrast to the cordial interactions among the other leaders.

Once the press conference wrapped up, Salman Agha made a quick exit, bypassing the stage handshakes and hugs altogether. On the other hand, Suryakumar took the time to exchange greetings with the remaining six captains, further highlighting the absence of interaction between the Indian and Pakistani skippers at that moment.
Interestingly, another video clip later surfaced online, presenting a different angle. It showed Salman Agha shaking hands with other captains, and eventually, Suryakumar also extended his hand toward the Pakistan captain. This sequence suggested that despite the initial awkwardness, the two did engage in a brief handshake before parting ways, though the tension between them was hard to overlook.
