WATCH : Trent Boult gets Virat Kohli out LBW on first ball

The match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2023 began disastrously for the home team, as their captain Virat Kohli was dismissed on the first ball of the game. Kohli, captaining for the second time after 2021, opened the innings and faced Trent Boult.

The New Zealand left-arm seamer, known for his knack of taking wickets in the first over, bowled his signature inswinger. Kohli tried to flick a fuller ball pitched in the middle but was caught plumb and dismissed on a golden duck.

RCB’s tactic of sending Shahbaz Ahmed at number 3 proves ineffective as Boult claims his second wicket. Boult bowls a slightly short delivery, and the batsman hits it straight to Yashasvi Jaiswal at short mid-wicket. As a result, Ahmed departs after scoring just 2 runs off 4 balls.

In the IPL 2023 encounter between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday afternoon, Trent Boult provided RR with an ideal beginning after winning the toss and choosing to bowl first. The New Zealand pacer dismissed Virat Kohli for a duck on the first ball of the match, followed by Shahbaz Ahmed for 2 in his subsequent over.

Despite this, Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell have maintained their ground and kept the scorecard ticking rapidly. RCB has included David Willey in their playing XI, replacing Wayne Parnell, with Kohli leading the team. In contrast, Rajasthan has omitted Riyan Parag from their lineup.
