In Sunday evening’s match at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai Indians started their chase of 186 with a bang, reaching 57 runs within the first four overs. Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan led the charge, appearing unstoppable and on track to reach the target comfortably.
However, Kolkata Knight Riders got a break when Umesh Yadav made up for his earlier struggles with the ball by taking a stunning catch to dismiss Rohit Sharma.
On the penultimate ball of the fifth over, Rohit faced Suyash Sharma’s full delivery on off and attempted a push shot, only to get a leading edge that looked like it would go beyond a wide short mid-off. But Yadav, who had been fielding at mid-off, charged towards the ball and dove with outstretched hands to grab it.
He landed with a thud, but the ball remained glued to his hand, leaving everyone amazed. The catch was so spectacular that Rohit could only shake his head in disbelief and smile in appreciation of Yadav’s brilliance.
Fans on Twitter also showered Yadav with praise for his incredible effort and the mutual respect between the two Indian players was evident. Yadav’s catch was a strong contender for catch of the tournament.
