WATCH : umpires permitted the Gujarat Titans to use the DRS system After timer expired

In the 35th IPL match of 2023, Gujarat Titans had a tough time batting first against Mumbai Indians. They lost their opener Wridhiman Saha in the third over of the innings, which marked his 150th IPL game.

Arjun Tendulkar was the bowler who dismissed him after he had scored only 4 off 7 balls. However, what gained more interest was the way in which the officials confirmed his dismissal.

Tendulkar bowled a delivery at a moderate pace of 129.1kph and it veered towards the leg side. Saha attempted to hit it towards the square leg region but missed the timing. His glove made partial contact with the ball before Kishan caught it.

Tendulkar and Kishan were certain that the ball had touched Saha’s glove, and after a delay, the umpire ruled him out. However, Saha was uncertain if he had indeed made contact with the ball and spoke to his partner Gill.

Gill and Saha had a lengthy conversation and ultimately decided to go for the Decision Review System (DRS). However, when Saha attempted to signal for a challenge, the time allotted for doing so had already expired.

Despite this, TV umpire Chris Gaffaney accepted the challenge and reviewed several replays. Ultra Edge technology ultimately confirmed that the ball had touched the glove on its way to the keeper.
