WATCH : Urvil Patel channels his inner MS Dhoni with a brilliant piece of glove work, pulling off a smart stumping to dismiss Shahbaz Ahmed

Bengal maintained their unbeaten streak in the Ranji Trophy with a commanding 141-run win over Gujarat in an Elite Group C clash at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The victory was set up by a combined bowling effort from pacer Mohammed Shami and left-arm spinner Shahbaz Ahmed, who picked up eight and nine wickets respectively, dismantling Gujarat’s batting lineup in both innings.

Despite Gujarat’s struggles, wicketkeeper-batter Urvil Patel stood tall with a fighting unbeaten century in the second innings. His resistance, however, wasn’t enough to save the visitors, as Bengal bowled them out for just 185 runs on the final day to seal another emphatic victory.

Urvil, who also represents Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, made his mark behind the stumps as well, pulling off a moment of brilliance to dismiss Shahbaz Ahmed. The Bengal all-rounder failed to connect with a back-of-length delivery from spinner Siddharth Desai, allowing Urvil the perfect opportunity.

Collecting the ball cleanly, Urvil waited with composure before executing a lightning-fast stumping. As Shahbaz tried to regain his balance and drag his foot back, the keeper dislodged the bails with impeccable timing, appealing confidently to the umpire.

The replays on the big screen confirmed Urvil’s brilliance — the stumping was perfectly timed, catching Shahbaz’s foot in the air for just a split second. The moment drew applause from teammates and fans alike, as Urvil’s sharp reflexes channeled shades of MS Dhoni’s wicketkeeping genius.
