Gujarat Titans were left stunned at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Monday as Rajasthan Royals unleashed a historic batting onslaught, led by the explosive partnership between Yashasvi Jaiswal and 14-year-old sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi.
Chasing a seemingly formidable target of 210, the duo made light work of the chase, compiling the highest partnership in Rajasthan Royals’ history. It was Vaibhav who stole the show, playing with fearless intent from the first ball and turning the match into a one-sided affair well before the innings reached its halfway mark.
Vaibhav made his intentions clear early on, launching a massive six straight down the ground off just the second ball he faced from Mohammed Siraj. He followed it up with a brutal assault on Ishant Sharma in the fourth over, smashing three sixes and two boundaries to get the Royals’ innings into high gear. Despite his young age, Vaibhav batted with maturity beyond his years, timing his shots perfectly and attacking every bowler with calculated aggression.
The real carnage unfolded in the 10th over when Afghanistan’s Karim Janat was introduced into the attack. Vaibhav, already cruising on 64 off 28, decided to go into overdrive. The over saw an exquisite six over square leg, a lucky edge that flew for four, followed by another clean strike over the boundary.
He then punished Janat with a pull off a bouncer and a crisp drive off a fulltoss, ending the over with a majestic slog over midwicket. By the end of it, he had raced into the 90s, with the stadium erupting in disbelief at the teenage prodigy’s brilliance.
In the following over, Vaibhav completed his century in just 35 balls — the second fastest in IPL history, only behind Chris Gayle’s iconic 30-ball ton. The milestone came fittingly against one of the best T20 bowlers in the world, Rashid Khan, whom Vaibhav dispatched for another six. His final score read 101 off 36 deliveries, featuring 11 sixes and seven fours — a knock that will be etched in IPL folklore for years to come.

It was a performance that not only dismantled Gujarat Titans but also announced the arrival of a cricketing phenomenon — a 14-year-old rewriting the rules of what’s possible in the world’s premier T20 league.
