Throughout the current season of IPL 2023, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has received tremendous support from the crowds in both home and away games. Even during the recent match against the Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens, the fans were chanting his name loudly when he came out to bat in the final over after Ravindra Jadeja’s dismissal.
The chants of ‘Dhoni…Dhoni…Dhoni…’ echoed through the stadium, and even the opposition batter, Venkatesh Iyer, was seen enjoying the moment.
Despite facing only two balls, Dhoni’s appearance was an iconic moment in the game. His first ball was a waist-height no ball, and he missed the free hit entirely. However, he managed to take a double on the final ball of the innings.
There is speculation that Dhoni may retire from the IPL after this season, and he himself admitted that this is the last phase of his career. Nevertheless, Dhoni’s fans continue to support him wholeheartedly, both at home and away games.
In the meantime, during the same match, Ajinkya Rahane and Shivam Dube scored quickfire half-centuries, which helped Chennai Super Kings to set a mammoth total of 235/4 in 20 overs against the Kolkata Knight Riders. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Conway provided a scintillating start, sharing a quick 73 runs for the opening wicket, followed by Dube and Rahane’s partnership of 85 runs off just 32 balls.
