The anticipation for the AIC24WC homecoming reached its peak as India awaited the return of their victorious team, delayed by Hurricane Beryl from departing Barbados.

After a four-day wait due to adverse weather conditions, Air India’s chartered flight finally took off at 4:50 AM local time on Wednesday. The Indian contingent’s social media soon buzzed with homecoming messages and photos of players proudly displaying the coveted silverware.

In a video shared by the BCCI, the Indian players were seen celebrating high above the clouds on their journey to Delhi. The Indian skipper, known for his emotional message after the World Cup win, appeared in high spirits, playfully posing with the trophy.

Rishabh Pant’s infectious smile alongside the trophy melted hearts, while Jasprit Bumrah’s excitement was evident as he shared the moment with his son, Angad. The trend of selfies began with Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Siraj, who engaged in playful banter while capturing candid moments.

Reflecting on their monumental achievement, Siraj humbly stated, “We poured our hearts and souls into winning this trophy. I feel immensely blessed.”

The team touched down at Delhi airport around 6 AM and proceeded to the prestigious ITC Maurya hotel. They soon met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence, who congratulated them for their performance in the USA and Caribbean. Later today, the team is set to embark on a celebratory rally from Mumbai’s iconic Marine Drive to the Wankhede Stadium, scheduled for 5 PM.
