During the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024 match between Baroda and Tamil Nadu, Vijay Shankar’s aggressive batting stood out, especially in the 17th over against Hardik Pandya.
The Tamil Nadu all-rounder smashed three massive sixes off Pandya, showcasing his power and timing. The first six soared to the on-side, bringing up a crucial 50-run partnership with Shahrukh Khan.
On the next delivery, Vijay cleared the boundary once again with another towering six before rotating the strike with a single. Shahrukh then took a quick single, bringing Vijay back for the final ball of the over, which he dispatched for another six over the on-side.
His explosive hitting left the crowd in awe. Batting first, Tamil Nadu posted a formidable total of 221/6. Openers Indrajith and Jagadeesan contributed 25 and 57 runs respectively, while Boopathi Kumar added a quick 28.
However, it was the partnership between Shahrukh Khan and Vijay Shankar that propelled Tamil Nadu to their massive score. Shahrukh scored 39 off 25 balls, while Vijay Shankar hammered 42 off just 22 balls, including four sixes, three of which came in Hardik Pandya’s over.

Hardik went wicketless, conceding 44 runs in his three overs, while his brother Krunal Pandya, Baroda’s skipper, bowled a more economical spell, taking 1 wicket for 26 runs. Lukman Meriwala was Baroda’s standout bowler, claiming three wickets.
