After a blistering start, Royal Challengers Bangalore lost two quick wickets in the powerplay during their pursuit of 205 against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens. Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli hit five boundaries and two maximums in the first four overs to propel the side to 42/0.
However, skipper Nitish Rana was forced to introduce Sunil Narine early due to the pacers’ failure to deliver. Narine didn’t disappoint and got the better of Kohli in a memorable encounter.
Bowling round the wicket, Narine began with a harmless delivery outside off, but Kohli only managed a single on the next ball. Kohli faced Narine again immediately and failed to capitalise on a loose delivery on his pads, leading to his downfall.
Narine lured Kohli forward with a length ball and spun it sharply, sneaking through the gap between bat and pad to crash into the stumps.
This was the fourth time Kohli fell to Narine in the IPL, managing only 102 runs off as many balls against the spinner. Twitterati quickly dubbed Kohli as Narine’s “bunny” and showered praise on the delivery.
