WATCH : Wadhera’s sweaty eyes turn Shami’s wicket into a dead ball

Punjab Kings got off to a flying start after skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to bat first. Openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh came out all guns blazing, racing to 53 runs in just three overs.

While Priyansh fell in the fourth and Prabhsimran was dismissed by debutant Eeshan Malinga in the seventh, the momentum didn’t drop. Iyer took charge, pairing up with Nehal Wadhera to keep the scoreboard ticking.

At the halfway stage, Punjab were cruising at 120/2, with Iyer leading from the front, notching up the fastest fifty of his IPL career in just 22 balls.

Drama unfolded in the 13th over. After conceding a boundary on the fifth ball, Mohammad Shami steamed in and bowled a low full toss. Wadhera, however, backed out at the last moment, and the ball went on to crash into the stumps. For a moment, it looked like his innings was over — but then came the twist.

Wadhera explained that something had momentarily obstructed his vision, likely sweat dripping into his eyes.

He immediately apologized to Shami, who took it in stride and reset for the next delivery without any fuss. The unusual moment quickly caught fans’ attention, sparking a flurry of reactions on social media.
