David Warner will be leading Delhi Capitals in IPL 2023 as they strive for their second consecutive win against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday, following the opening of their account in the tournament. Delhi Capitals are currently sitting at the bottom of the table and are eager for a turnaround.

Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad, placed ninth on the table, are also heading into the match on the back of two defeats. Delhi’s struggle has been with their batting, as only David Warner has been performing well, but with a poor strike-rate.

On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad has been facing a problem with the loss of form of their key players, including Indian stars Mayank Agarwal and Rahul Tripathi.

Warner is caught by Harry Brook off Washington Sundar’s bowling, resulting in Sundar’s first wicket of the season. Despite a poor delivery that slid down the leg side, Warner attempted a sweep but failed to keep it down. Brook, positioned at deep backward square leg, made a good judgment and took a smart catch. It’s disappointing for Warner, who couldn’t make it big in his favorite city in India. After the dismissal, Markram hugged Sundar.

Bhuvneshwar takes a simple catch at deep backward square leg, dismissing Sarfaraz Khan off Washington Sundar’s bowling, resulting in Sundar’s second wicket of the over. It seems like the overspinners are doing the job for Washington Sundar. Sarfaraz Khan attempted a sweep to a tossed-up delivery on the stumps but ended up top-edging it. Bhuvneshwar, positioned perfectly, comes forward to complete the catch, causing DC to stumble. The dismissal made Washington jump in delight.

Abhishek Sharma takes an easy catch at cover, dismissing Aman Hakim Khan off Washington Sundar’s bowling. It was a horrendous shot, and the DC head coach, Ponting, seen chewing his gum vigorously, would not be too happy with it. Aman Hakim Khan was lucky to survive the first ball, but luck ran out on the second one.

He attempted an ambitious slog to leg, coming down the track, but couldn’t connect as the overspinner slid across and he failed to reach the pitch. The resulting thick outside-edge sliced off the bat and Abhishek Sharma completed an easy catch. With Washington Sundar taking three wickets in one over, DC suddenly lost half their side.
