WATCH : Yashasvi Jaiswal explains his sprint to run out Fazalhaq Farooqi

Yashasvi Jaiswal has confessed to being uncertain about whether to throw the ball at the stumps or not, following a mix-up between Fazalhaq Farooqi and Naveen-ul-Haq in the second T20I between India and Afghanistan in Indore last Sunday. Eventually, he opted to sprint and break the stumps, leading to India’s six-wicket victory and securing a 2-0 series win at the Holkar Stadium.

During Afghanistan’s innings, Jaiswal played a crucial role in dismissing Farooqi for a duck, the final wicket to fall. The confusion arose when Farooqi hesitated about taking a second run after a missed attempt by the keeper to hit the stumps.

Jaiswal, positioned at square leg, seized the ball and rapidly sprinted towards the non-striker’s end, successfully running out Farooqi before he could reach his crease.

In a video shared on BCCI’s official handle, Jaiswal elaborated on his decision-making process, stating, “I was a bit confused about whether to throw or not. Then I thought that I can get there and run him out. So, I sprinted and hit [the stumps].”

Farooqi’s run-out marked the second consecutive dismissal in consecutive balls during Afghanistan’s innings, with Mujeeb Ur Rahman (21 off 9) being run out on the previous delivery due to a mix-up with Naveen-ul-Haq.
