Yashasvi Jaiswal provided a stunning start for Rajasthan Royals in their Sunday evening match in Mumbai, hitting some early fireworks while his opening partner, Jos Buttler, took his time to settle in.
With a boundary and two maximums, including a shot that could easily be considered as the best of the match, the visitors had already reached 26 by the end of the third over.
In the second over of the game, Jofra Archer, who was playing only his third game of the season, was given the responsibility of the new ball by captain Rohit Sharma. After an 8-run over by Cameron Green to start the proceedings, Archer delivered a short and wide ball to Jaiswal on his first delivery, resulting in a couple of runs for the uncapped opening batter.
On the next ball, Archer once again opted for a short ball, but Jaiswal responded by elegantly swinging his bat across the line, sending the ball over fine leg for a six. The ball continued to gather momentum and ended up crossing the Wankhede boundaries, landing outside the stadium.
The Mumbai Indian fielders could only watch helplessly as the ball sailed away. The shot by Jaiswal was so powerful that the umpires had to call for a new ball for Archer to continue the game.
