Indian Cricketer Ruled Out From World Cup

The Indian all-rounder Vijay Shankar ruled out from the World Cup Tournament with a toe injury. The injury happened before the West Indies game, where he got injured on Bumrah’s yorker.

Despite that, he was declared fit and played that match. But just ahead the England’s game, Kohli announced that Shankar will miss the match with the injury and the wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant will play the game.

After the match, the team management declared him unfit and due to that Shankar will miss the rest of the matches. The opener batsman Mayank Agarwal is likely the replacement for him.

A BCCI officials said,Vijay Shankar sustained a no displaced fracture of the left big toe, which will require a minimum of three weeks to heal. The injury rules him out of the ongoing World Cup. The team management has requested the ICC to consider Mayank Agarwal as his replacement.”

“Vijay was hit on the toe while facing Bumrah at the nets before the match. That’s why he was not part of the XI. Otherwise, we had identified him as our No 4 batsman.”
