The Indian opener batsman Rohit Sharma played a brilliant innings in the first Twenty-20 International match of Paytm series between India and New Zealand. He scored 80 runs off 55 balls with the help of 6 fours and 4 sixes.
Rohit lost his wicket in a controversial way. New Zealand appeal for a caught behind. Rohit throws the bat at that and fails to make contact. Boult and Latham went up straight away, umpire Nitin Menon walked to Shamsuddin and they decided to send it upstairs. Since it was a very full delivery the ball might have bounced before going to Latham.
That was the confusion. The third umpire reckons that the bat brushed the ground and signalled to press the Not Out button. Well, what has happened here? New Zealand has gone for the review. It was the umpire referral and hence Snicko was not used to check if there was an edge. Kane Williamson has decided to review that and got it overturned.
