In the match between Abu Dhabi Knight Riders and MI Emirates in Abu Dhabi on Friday, former West Indies player Kieron Pollard hit 26 runs off a single over from his fellow countryman Andre Russell.
During the 17th over of the innings, Pollard, who was in top form, hit two massive sixes and three boundaries off Andre Russell’s third over.
MI Emirates scored 180/4 in the first innings, thanks to Pollard’s 43 runs off 17 balls. Muhammad Waseem was the top scorer with 60 runs. The Knight Riders had three wicket-takers: former South African cricketer De Lange, Sunil Narine, and UAE’s Sabir Ali each took one wicket.
In pursuit of 181, the Knight Riders were dismissed for 162 runs, with Andre Russell scoring 42 off 22 balls in a quick innings. Dwayne Bravo was the standout bowler with three wickets, while Imran Tahir contributed two wickets during the middle overs.
MI Emirates have secured a spot in the ILT20 playoffs along with the Desert Vipers and Gulf Giants. The fourth spot is still open and will be determined in the match between Sharjah Warriors and Dubai Capitals.
The playoffs begin on February 8, with the final scheduled for February 13 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
