The experienced Indian cricket team, led by Rohit Sharma, will play a 4-match Test series against Australia starting February 9. The players are in preparation for it. There was already a controversy before the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series started due to a viral video. The video shows two Indian cricketers rejecting to put the “tilak” during a welcome ceremony. People are making various comments on this video on social media.

Boarder Gavaskar Trophy series will host 4 test matches between India and Australia. Ahead of the series, two Indian players are under scrutiny for their conflicts. The two players in question are Mohammed Siraj and Umran Malik.

A video has gone viral showing the players being rebuffed by the female staff while being welcomed at the team hotel. Both are being trolled heavily with the hashtag ‘Kattar’. However, some fans are also supporting them.

Mohammed Siraj and Umran Malik, besides the Indian team’s batting coach Vikram Rathour, progress forward without a tilak. However, the head coach Rahul Dravid and other members of the support staff wear tilak. People present at the entrance of every player also play the tambourine. Member of the support staff Hari Prasad Mohan also didn’t wear a tilak, but he is following the trail of Siraj and Umran.

When the Indian team reaches the team hotel in Nagpur, the staff greets them. A viral video on social media shows that when the head coach Rahul Dravid, Siraj, Umran and other members of the support staff enter, a female staff member puts a tilak on their forehead as a sign of welcome.

In response, Rahul Dravid and some others put the tilak on, while Siraj, Umran and Rathour along with others show reluctance. Some members even take off their caps and put the tilak on, before moving forward.

Attempts are being made to give a religious color to this matter now. A user who posted a video wrote that both cricketers are strict about their religion. However, many people have supported them. In reality, the reason for wearing a tilak could be something else, but especially on social media, it is being interpreted as Siraj and Umran’s religious devotion. It is to be noted that Bumrah will not be a part of this Test series and Siraj will bear a bigger responsibility in his absence.
