3 Former Players Mumbai Indians May Eye During IPL 2024 Trade Window

IPL 2024 is fast approaching, with only six months remaining until the event. In February, just a month before the tournament begins, there is an auction scheduled for this mega event. However, before the auction, there is a significant opportunity known as the “Trade Window” that allows IPL teams to exchange and trade some of their players. In anticipation of IPL 2024, here are three former players that the Mumbai Indians may consider targeting during the Trade Window.

The IPL (Indian Premier League) trade window is a designated period when IPL franchises can engage in player trades with other teams. This window typically takes place before the IPL auction and offers teams the chance to fine-tune their squads for the upcoming season.

Teams can swap players who are currently part of their roster or acquire those released by other franchises. This process enables teams to address specific player needs, bolster their line-ups, or balance their squads through player exchanges. The trade window is a crucial phase for IPL teams to assemble a competitive roster before the tournament kicks off.

In the previous season, the Mumbai Indians had a decent performance, considering the high standards they’ve set for themselves. The MI Paltan’s journey ended in Qualifier 2 at Narendra Modi Stadium, where they were defeated by the runners-up, the Gujarat Titans.

Throughout the season, questions were raised about Mumbai Indians’ below-average fast bowling, as their batsmen often had to rescue the team. While the return of Jasprit Bumrah is expected to fill the void in death bowling, the five-time champions are still on the lookout for a top-notch fast bowler.

In their quest for the right fast bowler, their attention may turn to their former players, Trent Boult and Marco Jansen.

1. Trent Boult

Trent Boult, one of the world’s most lethal fast bowlers with the new ball, was released by MI during the 2022 mega auction. Boult played a pivotal role in MI’s victory in the 2020 season in the UAE, where they clinched their fifth title. His departure had a significant impact on MI’s new ball bowling, and there’s a possibility that he might be traded back from the Rajasthan Royals.

2. Marco Jansen

Marco Jansen, a versatile and tall fast bowling all-rounder, announced his arrival on the world cricket stage during the 2023 World Cup. His remarkable performances with both the bat and ball have impressed many, including the MI camp.

3. Krunal Pandya

The Baroda-born all-rounder gained significant recognition while representing MI. However, he left the camp during the 2022 Mega Auction after being bought by the Lucknow Supergiants. There is a chance that he may make a return to the MI squad.
