England mounted an impressive comeback from Quinton de Kock’s early fireworks in their second Super 8 clash, managing to restrict South Africa to a competitive 163/6 on a dry pitch that offered something for both batsmen and bowlers.

However, the Proteas responded with equal tenacity, leaving their European counterparts struggling at 56/3 after nine overs, with two fresh batsmen at the crease. This advantageous position was set up by what could be considered one of the contenders for the catch of the tournament in just the second over.

Fresh off a match-winning 87 off 47 balls against the West Indies, Phil Salt seemed poised to continue his superb form as he took a swing at Kagiso Rabada’s full and wide delivery.

The ball, though airborne, appeared destined for the gap between cover and point, but Hendricks had other plans. In a flash, the fielder launched himself to his left, arms outstretched, hoping to make the catch. To everyone’s amazement, he timed his leap perfectly, and the ball settled securely in his hands.

Salt let out a furious roar, frustrated at being dismissed despite executing a powerful stroke, while Rabada’s eyes widened in exhilaration, his scream one of pure joy. Meanwhile, Twitter was abuzz with admiration for Hendricks’ spectacular catch, which quickly became the center of attention.
