An inexperienced Indian side made a strong start against Zimbabwe by taking three wickets in the first half of their innings, gaining firm control of the first T20I at Harare Sports Club.
Mukesh Kumar secured the initial breakthrough, followed by Ravi Bishnoi who struck twice in consecutive overs. The Men in Blue could have strengthened their position even further, had it not been for a crucial drop by Avesh Khan in the deep.
Khaleel Ahmed, making a return to international cricket after a stellar IPL season with the Delhi Capitals, bowled a bouncer to Brian Bennett on the second ball of the fifth over, inducing a thick outside edge.
As the ball flew towards Avesh Khan at deep third man, Khaleel watched in anticipation. However, Avesh misjudged the catch and had to dive at the last moment, only to see the ball slip past him and roll to the boundary.

Despite his evident frustration, Khaleel maintained his composure, closing his eyes in disappointment and then quietly returning to his mark, even as disappointment showed on his face.
