The opening duo of DC who have performed well this season departed early against the pace attack of the Royals. Chetan Sakariya dismissed Prithvi Shaw while Kartik Tyagi who turned out to be the final over hero for the Royals last week picked up the wicket of Shikhar Dhawan early in the match.
However, Shreyas Iyer and skipper Rishabh Pant started to put Delhi Capital’s innings back on track. Their 62-run partnership ended in the 12th over when Mustafizur Rahman took Pant’s bails off. Shimron Hetmeyer also scored a quickfire 28 off 16 deliveries which included 5 fours at a strike rate of 175.

In the final over of the game Sanju Samson handed the ball to Mustafizur Rahman. Mustafizur bowled a off cutter ball to Ravichandran Ashwin in the penultimate ball of the over. Ashwin tried to play the reverse sweep shot he was unable to connect the bat with the ball. Ashwin ran for a single immediately after missing the delivery. Sanju Samson collected the ball and threw to it to the non-striker end. The throw was good enough for Mustafizur to run Ashwin out. Mustafizur fumbled and missed the opportunity to run him out. The story doesn’t end here. Ashwin goes on to run to take a second run and eventually completes it. DC got two extra runs from byes. There was no way Ashwin could have completed a run but he ended up taking the second too. Absolute comedy of errors takes place at this end.
DC ended up scoring 154/6 after the completion of 20 overs.
