The Indian athletes have broken all records at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 and made us all proud. India won as many as 7 medals at Tokyo 2020 which is our highest ever at any Olympics. Before this, we had won the highest number of medals at the 2012 London Olympics (6). Moreover, India’s Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra has won a Gold Medal in Javelin throw and has created history by becoming the first ever Indian athlete to win an Olympic medal. He is also only the second Indian to win an Olympic gold in an individual event.
These astonishing achievements at the highest stages of them all need to be rewarded and our government has already started announcing prize money for all our medal winners. The Board of Control for Cricket in India had now joined forces to reward our award winners as well. BCCI’s honorary secretary Mr. Jay Shah announced the prize amounts for the medal winners just now on his official twitter handle.
Here is the list of the same:
One Crores to Gold Medalist
50 Lakhs to Silver Medalist
25 Lakhs to Bronze Medalist
1.25 Crores to Men’s Hockey Team
This is an excellent initiative by BCCI and will definitely motivate more and more Indian youngsters to pursue athletics so that India can make further improvements at International stages. The state governments and the Central government will also be giving prize money and several other accolades to our medal winners.
