Daryl Mitchell dedicates Instagram story to Ishan Kishan

New Zealand’s cricketer Daryl Mitchell expressed gratitude to India’s Ishan Kishan through an Instagram story for his kind assistance during the 2023 World Cup semifinal on November 17. Kishan provided aid to Mitchell when he faced a cramp in his right leg during the match held in Mumbai.

Mitchell displayed an impressive performance, scoring 134 runs off 119 balls against the Men in Blue. His innings included seven sixes and nine boundaries. Partnering with New Zealand captain Kane Williamson (who scored 69 off 73), the 32-year-old built a crucial 181-run partnership for the third wicket. However, despite his remarkable ton, the Blackcaps suffered a defeat by 70 runs.

Expressing his gratitude, Mitchell tagged the Indian cricketer and accompanied it with a salute emoji, writing, “Thanks for the help.”

This marked Mitchell’s second century in the 2023 World Cup, following his earlier score of 130 off 127 against India during the league-stage game in Dharamsala. In that match, he hit five sixes and nine boundaries. Interestingly, despite his outstanding performance, the Kiwis lost by four wickets.

Unfortunately, with the loss in the semifinals, New Zealand’s aspiration of clinching their first-ever ODI World Cup trophy came to an end. Despite making it to the finals in the 2015 and 2019 editions, they fell short once again.
