The South African skipper Faf du Plessis withdraws his name from the upcoming Twenty-20 International series against Bangladesh due to a serious injury. He injured himself during the third One Day International match against Bangladesh. Faf scored unbeaten 91 runs off just 67 balls with the help of 10 fours and 1 six before leaving the ground.
David Miller was carried out the skipper on this back from the ground. Faf was also the player of the match in that game, but he was unavailable to collect the trophy. The South African team easily won the match by 200 runs. With that victory the South African team retained their rank 1 position in the ICC ODI rankings.
Proteas team manager, Dr Mohammed Moosajee said,”Faf sustained an acute left lumbar (lower-back) strain while batting and immediately left the field in extreme discomfort.”
“He will return back to Cape Town overnight for investigation and further management. He has been withdrawn from the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh starting in Bloemfontein on Thursday,” he added.
The all-rounder cricketer JP Duminy will lead the team in the upcoming Twenty-20 International series against Bangladesh. Dwaine Pretorius will be replace the skipper for the whole series.
