Andrew Tye had a difficult performance on Sunday, delivering the most expensive over in Big Bash League history. The Perth Scorchers player gave up 31 runs in his last over during the team’s match against the Melbourne Renegades at Perth Stadium.

Aaron Finch was the one who capitalized on Tye’s struggles in the 18th over of the Melbourne Renegades’ innings, scoring 30 runs in the seven-ball over, with one run coming from a no-ball.

Tye allowed two runs on the first ball of his over before Finch hit two consecutive fours. The fourth ball saw Finch steal another two runs, then hit a waist-high no-ball for a six on the next delivery. The fifth legal delivery from Tye was also hit for a six by Finch, and the final ball met the same fate.

Although Finch’s heroic 76 not out off 35 balls, Melbourne Renegades fell 10 runs short of Perth Scorchers’ total at the end of the 20 overs.

Cameron Bancroft and Stevie Eskinazi powered the Scorchers to a strong score of 212 for 5 with Bancroft scoring 95 off 50 balls and Eskinazi 54 off 29. Despite a valiant effort from the Renegades’ Finch, Shaun Marsh (54 off 34) and Will Sutherland (30 off 18), they were unable to reach the target. Scorchers’ spinner Ashton Turner took 2 wickets for 25 runs in three overs.
