When sledging Virat Kohli, you get what you give. This is demonstrated by the confrontations he has been involved in. Recently, former Pakistan cricketer Sohail Khan recalled an incident he had with Kohli during the 2015 India-Pakistan match at Adelaide Oval.
Kohli powered India with a century, leading them to a score of 300. Meanwhile, Sohail was the standout bowler for Pakistan, taking a five-wicket haul in the first innings. Despite their on-field success, the two had a heated exchange, which Sohail recently disclosed more about.
Sohail spoke on the Nadir Ali Podcast and shared that Virat had come to him and commented on how much he talked. Sohail explained that he used to be a Test cricketer and played in 2006-07, but was forced out of action due to a knee injury. He then told Virat that when he was playing Under-19 for India, his father (referring to himself) was already a Test player. However, Misbah stepped in and got angry, telling Sohail to be quiet.
Sohail stated that despite their disagreement during the World Cup eight years prior, he now holds Kohli in high esteem due to his success as a batter. He expressed his respect for Kohli, calling him “great” and “amazing”.
Sohail played 9 Tests, 13 ODIs and 5 T20Is for Pakistan, taking 51 international wickets. He has not officially retired, but his last appearance for the team was nearly six years ago in September 2017.
