MS Dhoni, the legendary Indian captain, has started training for the 2023 IPL. Throughout his career as a cricketer, he has played multiple roles, including middle-order batter, finisher, wicket-keeper, and captain. Off the field, he continues to take on new roles for his brand endorsements, the latest being a police officer in a recent advertisement. Dhoni holds the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Territorial Army.

The former India captain’s latest advertisement role as a policeman caused a stir on Twitter, with fans questioning why Dhoni chose this particular role. Despite being past his prime, he remains the biggest name in Indian cricket and the IPL, having led the Chennai Super Kings to four championship wins.

A commenter claimed that the cop universe of popular Hindi film director Rohit Shetty would not be able to compete with Dhoni.

Dhoni, who recently joined the Indian team in Ranchi for the first T20I match against New Zealand led by Hardik Pandya, will resume his role as the captain of the Super Kings in the upcoming 16th edition of the IPL.

Last year, Dhoni passed on the captaincy to Ravindra Jadeja, but due to lackluster performance and mounting pressure, the all-rounder returned the baton back to the original captain. There was speculation that 2022 could be Dhoni’s final year in the IPL, however, the four-time IPL champion assured fans that he would return in 2023, driven by the desire to play one last time in front of the Chepuak crowd, as the home-and-away format is set to return this year.
