India Player Announces Retirement From International Cricket

Team India is currently playing a three-match T20 series against New Zealand. One of the players has made a big decision during this series. The player has suddenly announced his retirement from international cricket.

This player has not played a single match for India in the last 4 years. The player was given several opportunities in MS Dhoni’s captaincy, but since 2020, he has not participated in Indian domestic cricket either.

Murali Vijay, former Indian opener, announced his retirement from international cricket on Jan 30th via a note on his Twitter handle. The 38-year-old has called it quits from all formats.

In the retirement note he posted on Twitter, Vijay wrote:

Vijay represented India in 61 Tests after making his debut vs Australia in Nagpur in Nov 2008. He scored 3982 runs with a 38.28 average, including 12 hundreds and 15 half-centuries.

Vijay’s final Test was vs Australia in Perth in Dec 2018. His career-high score of 167 came against Australia in Hyderabad in March 2013.
